Sikh youth leader Amanjeet Singh has praised Javed Hassan Baig, the Hon’ble MLA from Baramulla and senior leader of the National Conference, for raising the crucial issue of political empowerment of the Sikh and Pandit communities in Jammu & Kashmir during the Legislative Assembly session.
In a statement, Amanjeet Singh wholeheartedly thanked MLA Baig for not only bringing up the issue but also effectively articulating the concerns of the minority communities. He described Baig’s efforts as commendable and urged the National Conference, currently in power, to fulfill its election promises made to the Sikh community by taking tangible steps to enhance their political representation.
Amanjeet Singh also called for the inclusion of non-migrated minorities in Kashmir under the provisions of SRO-412. He highlighted that the National Conference had acknowledged the plight of minority communities in its election manifesto and urged the government to act upon it.
Expressing hope for continued support from Baig, Singh emphasized the importance of consistent advocacy for the Sikh community’s issues within the Assembly.
On the 25th anniversary of the Chattisinghpora massacre, Amanjeet Singh lamented the lack of progress in the investigation. He expressed deep disappointment over the absence of justice for the victims, which has resulted in growing disillusionment within the Sikh community.
“Despite the passage of 25 years, no significant headway has been made in the case. The Government of India must expedite efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Singh urged.
