Three classmates and friends of 11th standard in Government Model Higher secondary school in Marhama area of south kashmir’s Anantnag District invented world’s cheapest egg incubator to benefit the poultry sector here in Kashmir valley.
Hadi Reyaz, Gowhar Ahmad Tantray and Basit Ahmad Dar all the three are classmates since childhood and also study in the same school at Government Model Higher secondary school Marhama in class 11th . All the three have decided to develop the incubator when they were study in class 9th at Madrassa Taleemul Islam at Marhama two years back.
Talking to ANI, Hadi Reyaz said that it was our dream to develop the cheapest incubator when we were studying in class 9th. Due to lack of stuff and power outages in the area we could not succeed in the project, he said. Added to that, after we completed 10th standard last year, we again revived the project at Government Model Higher secondary school at Marhama Anantnag and we overcame all problems and succeeded in creating the cheapest device.
Hadi is among the two classmates who have developed this low cost and cheapest egg incubator in school.
According to Hadi the journey of the three friends for building the incubator wasn’t smooth. It was three year ago when we started working on the idea of making a portable egg incubator but we failed. After admission in GHSS Marhama our teachers have established an ATL Atal Tinkering Lab in school and also made us everything available in the school lab and we were succeeding to develop the incubator.
All the three students are giving credit to their teacher and school administration under which they have done this work.
We have completed this project under the guidance of our information technology lecturer Adil Bashir Wani who is also in charge of the ATL lab in school. Said Hadi
The school authorities have also helped and encouraged us more for this research as they have provided us with electricity from their solar power system in school. The school authorities made sure that the incubator gets an uninterrupted power supply throughout the hatching process. He said
An egg incubator requires a continuous power supply for nearly 3 weeks to complete the whole process.
The incubator can hatch about 400 eggs at one time. It provides a suitable temperature of 38 degrees required for hatching and takes 18 to 22 days for the whole process to complete. We have developed this egg incubator within two months. He said.
Talking to ANI, Adil Bashir wani, IT lecturer in school said that the Atal Tinkering Lab ATL is truly a remarkable platform that has been brought by the government together with the key stakeholders of driving innovation in India. The aim of this platform is to identify such innovations by young talented Indians who are solving pressing community challenges and take them forward.
We have established the ATL lab in school four months back and we told all the students that if anyone has an innovation idea he can do research in the lab, Gowhar Ahmad Tantray the team head came with this idea with two more classmates and we asked them to proceed and provided them all the facilities in ATL lab. After two months the result of their research came out and finally all the three students have succeeded to innovate this cheapest incubator. He said.
Added that the Atal innovation mission is a flagship initiative of NITI Aayog to promote the spirit of innovative and entrepreneurial mindset in the country with various programmes such as the Atal Tinkering Labs, Atal Incubation centers, and organizing challenges such as Atal New India Challenge, Defence Innovation Startup Challenge, etc.
Atal tinkering labs (ATLs) have been established at schools across india under the Atal Innovation Mission of the NITI Ayog, with a vision to cultivate one million children in india as neoteric innovators, he said
We used easily available material and filament bulbs to make this incubator. Said Gowhar Ahmad Tantray, who is among the three students who innovate the incubator. We have incubators available in the market but their price ranges from above 30 thousand. We invented this cheapest Incubator. It would cost just Rs 2 to 3 thousand only, this will greatly benefit the people involved in the poultry form. We will make more incubators so that they can be marketed and sold to the customers in the cheapest range, he said.
These young students want to make more incubators in this way and hatch more eggs. Now they manage to hatch up to 400 eggs using 1 incubator. Apart from this egg incubator, these students also want to make automatic and semi-automatic incubators.
