The residents of Marhama, Sangam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday expressed dismay over the dilapidated condition of the Marhama- Sngam road.
Talking to Good Morning Kashmir, the residents said the road stretch is dotted with huge potholes and the authorities are least bothered about the people’s sufferings.
The road presents a pathetic look and craves for government’s attention, Abdul Rashid, a local said, adding, “Despite being macadamized around two years ago, the road has developed big potholes as the black topping didn’t sustain for long.”
The locals said the road acts as an important link, connecting several areas with Sangam and thousands of people and transporters pass through it daily. “It
is in a bad condition, making the movement of people very difficult,” another local Irshad Ahmad said.
The residents have urged the Lieutenant Governor-led administration to look into the matter at the earliest.
They also demanded an inquiry against the concerned department and contractor(s) “who are wasting the public money
