182 arrested, 1181 fined for violating Covid guidelines

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested over 182 and imposed fine on 1181 others for allegedly violating COVID-19 related standard operating procedures in the UT.

A police spokesperson on Tuesday said that continuing its efforts to curb the outbreak of second wave of coronavirus, J&K police enhanced its efforts to sensitize the masses about controlling the highly contagious COVID-19.

“During the last 24 hours, police arrested 182 people, lodged 89 FIRs and also realized fine to the tune of Rs 1,33,840 from 1,181 people in the Kashmir valley for violating the various guidelines/rules/SOPs regarding Covid-19,” he said.

Jammu and Kashmir reported 1895 fresh covid-19 cases while 32 more people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Tuesday.

Among the fresh cases, 633 cases were confirmed from Jammu Division and 1262 from Kashmir Valley, taking the total count to 292360.
